Today was as creatively productive as days get for me. After Andrea left I made breakfast and spent the day reading, writing and working on music. The song I've been working on is ready for bass and vocals. Recording a song was the only goal I set for myself this summer and it looks like I'll accomplish it just in time.
Andrea came over last night for dinner and we watched the end of Batman Begins, which construction work at Riverside had kept us from finishing. She crashed before midnight and I tried, but ended up on the couch for a couple of hours reading. Andrea and I are on different sleep schedules right now because she's been working quite a bit. I'm back to a routine where I'm awake until 2 or 3 before I can fall asleep, and then I'm out of bed at around 11. I'm looking forward to having work back in my life, because I'm apparently happiest when I'm going to bed at sunrise on a somewhat regular basis.
I devoured the rest of Fifth Business today. It may be the best book I've read so far this year. Davies' narrative structuring and language are amazing, and he has such a wonderful flair for writing passionate dialogue. There are a few moments in the text where characters talk at length and it never once gets dull. I feel richer for having read it.
I wrote a little over a thousand words today. Every time I sit down to write I'm producing something new and different from the last time. I'm trying to get at a story. I know it's there somewhere, I just have to keep digging.

It's going to be a long day. I'd better keep this short.
Yesterday I picked up the last of my paycheques at the Chambers and bought a copy of the latest Wired magazine. When I got home I walked to the post office and mailed the Amazon return along with the RSVP to Connolley's wedding. I took a bath and read for a couple of hours. I started writing based on an exercise that demanded I wrote out of a past work experience, and I ended up with a nifty little story intro that I think I might have the chance of finishing. I'm at a little over 1,100 words. The prose was coming at me pretty quick and I was smiling as I was writing it. It's been a long time since I've experienced that, trying to capture a flow of ideas before they get away. I feel really good about it.
Last night while leafing through Wired I finalized the decision to invent an alias for myself. It's an idea I've been kicking around for a few years now. I've had all kinds of aliases since I started using the Internet, but this will be for my identity as a writer and artist apart from the rest of my life in which an association with that identity might harm me (for instance, at work). More on that later.
Andrea and I are renting a car and heading to Trolley's wedding today. Better get ready.

I'm sick. I need to get out and pick up some groceries, stuff to flush my system with vitamins.
Andrea and I spent most of yesterday together talking and shopping and seeing Iron Man. Both of us have had our issues readjusting to the city but we're trying to work through them together.
I picked up MGMT's latest record and a copy of Once on DVD. It sounds as though I'll be starting work next Wednesday. I have to have my photo taken for a security pass at some point in the near future.
Head hurts. That's all.
